West Hansen For Congressional District 25

AUSTIN, TX – West Hansen, an Austin explorer who led a National Geographic expedition in 2012 as the first to kayak the entire Amazon River from its newly discovered source, is running for U.S. House of Representatives in the 25th Congressional District. “Our elected...

Why I Am Running for Congress

We all know that something has to give in Washington, D.C. The overwhelming majority of Americans, Texans and, yes, residents of the 25th Congressional District of Texas, agree that our current Congress is an absolute disaster. This Congress is currently caught up in...

Meet West Hansen

I was born in Texas and have lived my entire life here. My wife and I have been married 26 years, and our daughter was born in Texas’ 25th Congressional District, where we have lived in the same house for 18 years. I’ve worked closely with Medicare members and Veterans for two decades to help secure their benefits and the services they deserve.

The people of Texas demand better behavior from our elected officials. They do not have to agree, but they do have to work together. It’s their job, and they are failing at it.

It’s time for a reset.

Texas Demands Better

My father put it best when he described Congress like an arranged marriage where neither had a say who they would marry, yet they had to make it work. To make progress, we require a sense of uncommon decency of our representatives to work with those with whom they disagree.

Both major political parties have equally strong feelings about, and dedication to, their goals. Attempts to prove the other wrong, vote away the opposition or simply to shout our discontent over the din has proven to be only partially and temporarily successful. It’s easy to wave the banner and cry for justice, but for lasting change, we must concentrate on common goals well within range. To have coffee with our adversaries is not a compromise on our ideals; it’s a path to a sustained victory. We need to win the battles before we can win the war.

“You negotiate peace with your enemies, not with your friends” – attributed to Barack Obama, James Baker, Tyrion Lannister and many others

Let's take action for the things that matter most

National Debt

$

With an ever growing debt and no plan to pay it off or balance the budget, this is not the time to cut taxes. With a robust economy coupled with the lowest unemployment rate in ten years, we can start paying off the debt now instead of allowing it to get out of control. Balance the budget, erase the national debt then give everyone a real tax cut.
